LAGUNA BEACH — November 3, 2026. Laguna Beach proclaimed a local emergency in September 2026 after storm swell caused severe beach erosion, damage to coastal protections and loss of some parking access.

What the city documented

Its September 15 update reports six oceanfront homes yellow-tagged over compromised seawalls and damage to part of the Aliso Beach parking lot. The city tied the erosion to swell beginning September 2.

What the emergency proclamation means

The City Council ratified the emergency proclamation on September 14. It enables response and recovery procedures, but does not establish that every Laguna Beach or neighborhood road is closed.

What visitors should do now

Check current beach advisories, respect fenced areas and avoid unstable cliffs, weakened seawalls and surf-exposed paths. A September damage report should not be mistaken for a real-time list of access closures in November.
